The day was gorgeous with crystal clear skies and visibilities that exceeded one hundred miles, ah the way it used to be! Afternoon cumulus began to build by 3pm with a few that might have been able to put down a shower but then the planes moved in. Low and slow they crossed the Valley.
About 5:30pm, I started shooting the ‘disturbed’ towering cumulus and that’s when I started noticing the wafer thin wave clouds. And that is where this video begins. What I witnessed was an incredible two hours of wave, planes, and colors that undulated over the area. It was just amazing to behold. Whether was the source of the wave I can’t say. There are too many forces at work in the sky that are just not understood by meteorology bound by thermodynamics. Have a look…
